What can I submit for a plagiarism check?

You can paste text, upload a PDF, DOCX, TXT, RTF or ODT file, or enter a URL. Each uploaded file can be up to 24 MB.

How long does a plagiarism check take?

Processing time depends on document size and the sources being checked. Small documents may finish in around 20 seconds, while documents of roughly 100 pages can take up to about 10 minutes.

Do you store my document?

Documents and reports may remain in your account until you delete them or close the account. They are not automatically added to the general comparison database and are not used to train AI models.

Does a similarity match mean plagiarism?

No. A match only shows that part of the submitted text is similar to an available source. Quotations, citations, references and common wording can all create legitimate matches, so the passages and sources should be reviewed in context.

Why can different plagiarism checkers show different scores?

Different tools may use different source collections, matching rules and exclusions. That can change which passages are found and how the overall similarity percentage is calculated.

Is plagiarism checking separate from AI detection?

Yes. Plagiarism checking looks for similarity with available sources. AI detection estimates whether writing patterns resemble AI-generated text. Plagum keeps these results separate because they answer different questions.
