Two checks, two questions
A similarity match and an AI signal do not mean the same thing.
Plagiarism checking compares submitted text with available sources and highlights similarities that may need closer review. A match can be a quotation, common wording, a properly cited passage or something that needs correction.
AI detection asks a different question. It estimates whether writing patterns resemble AI-generated text. The result is probabilistic, can be wrong and should not be treated as a definitive conclusion about authorship or misconduct.

Separate by design
One document can raise two very different questions.
Plagum does not collapse plagiarism checking and AI detection into one percentage. Each analysis has its own report, its own details and its own limitations.
That separation matters. Source similarity can be reviewed against the passages and URLs that produced it. AI indicators should be read as probabilities, not as a statement about who wrote the text.

Useful signals need honest explanations.
Plagum reports what its automated checks find, but it does not turn those findings into final conclusions about plagiarism or authorship. Results are most useful when you review the passages, sources and surrounding context.
- A similarity match does not automatically mean plagiarism.
- An AI result is probabilistic and can produce false positives or false negatives.
- No automated report should be the sole basis for a high-stakes decision.
Submitted documents are not used to train AI models and are not automatically added to the general comparison database.

“Why can two checkers show different results?”
Because plagiarism databases, source coverage and AI-detection methods are not identical. Three differences matter most:

- 02Matching rules, exclusions and similarity calculations can change which passages are counted and how the score is presented.
- 03AI detectors use different probabilistic models, so the same text can receive different AI indicators.
That is why a percentage should be reviewed together with the underlying passages, sources and context instead of treated as a universal answer.
